I am recently back from a much needed vacation! Almost a week in gorgeous South Carolina; it was awesome. Not only did I get to spend an extra long weekend with two great gal pals; I also got to do a 5yr anniversary/ remembering Charleston session. Woohoo! My friend ‘S’ and her hubby ‘A’ just celebrated 5yrs, and are possibly moving this year. So she wanted a combination shoot, and ‘I’ wanted to shoot at all the BEAUTIFUL locations. Talk about a win win.
We started out doing some shots in and around their home (not posted), then went off to Charleston. Getting some shots on a couple cobblestone streets, then on the pier. There the rain started. We had planned to go to a lighthouse, but nixed that in hopes of getting to the beach before the rain. And we did. They changed in the car (parked on a busy street lol), and I adjusted my setting while running to the beach. Then I felt the first sprinkles
We literally spent MAYBE 5 minutes on the beach… in the rain. We didn’t get all of the super cool beach shots I was hoping for, but I got a few I hope they will enjoy. Nevermind the story they will always have!

Marry Me… Again. I LOVE this shot!!!!

This was another really fun session… (yes I have a lot of those). I had asked “J” if she would be up for some fun downtown. Not only was she, but she suggested our main location. It was great. This is only a small sneak peak. I forgot to save the images off my external, so I don’t have them on this computer. These are just a few I still had open in photoshop! If she seems a little small; she is. She still has a ways to go before she gets to meet her Baby “T”. He isn’t due to join us until the beginning of June. Hoping she’ll let me do a mini session closer to time. So here you go “J’ and my apologies for the wait!

Could I really shoot a maternity session without making “mama” jump?

Here is one for the studio.

You know those couples? The ones who are just so great together they make you want to say awwww? And you would too… if only you could stop gagging! Well I had the most wonderful engagement session with “J”(her) and “D”(him) on Tuesday. I had to keep apologizing for saying how cute they were together! On the up side; I think I did a very good job hiding my gagging lol.
Not only were they great together, they were also great to photograph, and made this one of my favorite sessions. No matter what I suggested, both of them were all for it. As if that isn’t awesome enough; “D” was the ‘easiest to make smile’ guy I have ever had. No forced smiles here. To get him really going all I had to do was say “make a serious face” and then ‘I’ would start laughing. He would CRACK UP! It was awesome!
In all of my trying to get everything packed and loaded I didn’t get a chance to really say goodbye to “D”. So “D” it was wonderful meeting you, and thank you for being such an easygoing guy. “J” and “D” I hope you enjoy this little sneak peak!
We started inside with a backdrop; getting a few traditional shots (not shown lol), followed by lots of fun! (shown) Then we braved the cold to go out and have even more fun (also shown!).

“Okay on the count of three. One…Two…Three…JUMP!!!!”

Look at them…aren’t they cute

Then we have my favorite from the session. I love how bright and colorful it is, but I REALLY love that she has her hands inside his coat to stay warm!!!

…I thought so! Here is my personal list of Top 5 Awesome Toys. Kid tested and mother approved lol. Keep in mind I have two boys aged almost 4 and 6. No frilly girly stuff here I am afraid.
Nilo Activity Table– Most of my mommy friends, and some of their friends have asked my advice on the perfect train table. Why are they asking me you may be wondering? Well that is because they know I spent WEEKS researching train tables when it was time for my boys to have one. Hours and hours of reading reviews, price checking, comparing measurements etc. I hands down ALWAYS recommend the Nilo Activity Table. I love every single thing about. It is the perfect height; you can stand at it to play with your trains, but you can also fit a child size chair under it if you want to draw. As if that isn’t awesome enough; you can buy legs to make it taller for older children to use. It is also big enough to hold Thomas brand train sets. Most other brands (except Thomas of course) are not. Then there is the fact that it does not have trains plastered all over it, or it’s table top. The table is natural wood in color, and the table top is white. The table top is covered the the same stuff as most counter tops on both sides so that you can flip it if needed. So once Thomas goes out the window you can still keep the table! My favorite part is how durable it is. We have had ours almost four years and it looks just as good as the day we bought it… well okay when I wipe it down it looks that good lol. I can even stand on it. (Yes I tried it even though they said not to… I am also saying not to!) So there is my quick review (ahem) of my favorite train table.
Automoblox– My boys love these. I believe they have all of the original size cars except the pink one. We started getting them a couple years back, and they are still a favorite toy. The really cool thing about them is that all of the pieces are completely interchangeable. They boys can spend forever building and rebuilding them. You do really need atleast two so that you can fully enjoy them, and once you start it’s hard to stop–read above.
Plasma Car– I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Plasma Car…. and so do my boys! I ran across this surfing Fat Brain Toys; a favorite site of mine. It is a ride on toy that you do not push, pedal, or scoot. By merely turning the ’steering wheel’ back and fourth slightly some really cool science/physics thing makes you go! the only draw back (and I do mean only) is that it has to be on a smooth flat surface, but that is easy enough to find. Seriously a kids toy that can do all that. What could be better? How about the fact it can hold up to 250lbs! Yep mom and dad can play too! Even giving smaller kiddos who can’t do it themselves a ride. Did I mention we love this toy?
Slinky– Yes I really did just put that on my top 5 toy list. I got one for Z as a stocking stuffer last year mostly out of nostalgia. He is crazy about it. We keep it put up from N whom enjoys flip flopping a middle part of the spring, so mommy can have 15+ minutes of fun. (if you know a quick way to undo a flip flop PLEASE post a comment or email it to me!) So the minute N is away he is always begging me to get it out. I highly recommend this $5ish splurge for the stocking.
P.S. Buy the orginal, it’s so much better than plastic.
Little Passports– Okay so we don’t actually have this yet. It was too cool not to add though AND my Z will be getting it for Christmas. Once he does, I’ll post an update with more info, but of course that will probably be after Christmas. The idea is so fun. The first month they receive a little explorer’s kit which has a little suitcase and passport. It also includes a letter, map, and a couple other things. Then each month they recieve a package in the mail from a different place like Brazil, Japan, etc. Each package has a letter from Sam and Sophia (the little kids traveling the world on their magic scooter) telling about the country they are in, little trinkets from there, and stickers to place on the suitcase and passport. It sounds so cute, educational, and it will last all year long!
